The Natural History Museums of L.A. County typically themed our advertising campaigns around new and seasonal exhibitions. In 2020 however, we were challenged to drive attendance and online engagement increases during a time when we had NO new major exhibitions. The resulting campaign highlighted the wide variety of evergreen experiences at the Natural History Museum and La Brea Tar Pits and emphasized that there is something for everyone. The campaign prompted the question “What blows YOUR mind?” and drove our visitors online to discover quirky self-guided smartphone tours designed to fit a variety of interests and personalities. Onsite at the museums, visitors were encouraged to share their “mind-blowing” moments on social media to win prizes.

For this project, I was responsible for designing the environmental graphics on-site at the Museums including the promotional banners on the South Façade of the Natural History Museum, street pole banners, postcard wall and photo opportunities in the elevators as well as a selfie wall in the lower level. In addition to the out of home graphics, I was also responsible for designing the uniquely sized postcards.
