While working at Disney General Entertainment Content, we were approached by Elita Adjei, a colleague from ABC Owned Television Stations, with a request to create a press release for the premiere of "Our America: Living While Black," a documentary series that explores the inequalities Black Americans face. Immediately, I saw the opportunity to create something larger and pitched the idea of creating a total media kit to promote the show instead of a one page press release to my manager. With the full support of her and our executive director, we began developing the media kit, highlighting the families, themes, and intent behind the show.
When we presented the initial concept and exploration to the client, she was immediately enthralled by it and saw even more opportunity behind it. In addition to the media kit, she requested static social infographics that the ABC Owned Television Stations could post on their instagram accounts to promote the themes of each episode and highlight key points from each individual episode. Recognizing that the intention behind these graphics would be for social media, I pushed the request one step further and created simple looping animations to catch viewers attention as they scrolled through their Instagram feeds.
